The Fab Labs is an initiative of the Center of Bits and Atoms (CBA) of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), to develop experimental laboratories using digital manufacturing technologies. They are spaces of collaboration equipped with machines of technological development, laser cutting, CNC router, modeling machines and 3D printers, controlled by computers and used in customized production processes; as well as in the creation of technological tools for the solution of personal problems.

The main objective is the democratization of technology, moving from standardized mass production systems to collaborative, cooperative and personalized production systems, to produce "almost anything".

It has implications in accelerating product development, creating new business models and sustainability.

Fab Lab of the School of Architecture is the first in Mexico and belongs to the collaborative global network with more than 1000 laboratories in 108 countries, with information exchange for technological development and social innovation.

The School of Architecture of the Universidad Anáhuac México, has become one of the centers that is part of the Fab Lab's network, in order to take advantage of the advances that have been achieved around the world for a common good from our discipline , for the development and exploration of projects from research and academia, that give a solid foundation to our community. We are the first Fab Lab in Mexico, and our commitment is the development and use of these technologies for the common good.

The goal is to continue the investigation of how the information content is translated into a physical representation. There is a network of FabLabs around the world that collaborate with this information in different areas, and in some cases they belong to individuals and in others to educational institutions, we are the first FabLab in Mexico in a direct exchange with MIT and the rest of the Fab Lab's in the world.
