About me

Assigment:

-Group assignment:

characterize your lasercutter, making test part(s)      that vary cutting settings and dimensions.

-Individual assignment:

Cut something on the vinylcutter

Design, lasercut, and document a parametric     press-fit construction kit, accounting for the lasercutter kerf, which can be assembled in multiple ways

To cut in vinyl cutter we need to create a illustrator file using vectors, or create a psg file this kind of file can be saved on illustrator too, I create a robot head to put it on my fridge.

I used CutStudio as software to cut my vinyl, only I imported my file to the program and click on cut.

But first you need to set the force to the pen , in my case I use 100 gf to this kind of vinyl.

After this you need to remove all the vinyl that you do not need it, put some transfer paper and put it where you want it.

Checking the kerf

First I cut a rectangle using this parameters:

I measured the hole and gived to me 63.89mm

I measured the rectangle cutted and gived to me 63.75

So the kerf is (63.89-63.75)/2 = .07mm

Parametric press-fit construction kit, which can be assembled in multiple ways.

I use Autocad to do my parametric design and adding constrains like parallel, perpendicular, coincident, equal, vertical, horizontal, and adding linear and angular contrains too on the seccion parametric.

In the next image I changed 2 parameters to do the assembly with 9mm of thickness material
