Home security system is my final project

What will it do?

My intetion in implementing this project is to solve an issue of burglary and theft in homes. This project will be used to alert the owner in case of security breach.
This project will be made of Motion detector, Door open/close detector, Glass break detector, and a Gateway device.
These devices will be used to increase the security on homes in most vulnerable place where burglars and thieves can pass.

Who has done what beforehand?

On the market there are some security system that works quit similar to the one am planning to make.
I will adapt this project to the needs of the local people to differentiate this project with the ones on the market.

What materials and components will be required?

  • Electronic components(like microcontrollers, sensors, LDO, ...)
  • 3D printer filaments

Where will they come from?

In this project the main parts will be Electronics parts and 3D printed parts as enclosures and most of the parts I will using are available in our FabLab.

How much will they cost?

I can't say the exact price or estimate it since components I will use are available in our FabLab.

What parts and systems will be made?

I will build the main PCB boards of the system and I will design and print Its enclosures.

What processes will be used?

Processes I will use in making the final project is: * 3D printing * PCB milling * LaserCutting

What tasks need to be completed?

Tasks needs to be completed are: * PCB designing, * PCB milling, * PCB assembling, * 3D designing, * 3D printing, * Parts test(to see if they work as needed)

What questions need to be answered?

  • Is the motion detector able to detect a human being in certain range?
  • Is the door state detector working correctly?
  • At which frequency the glass break detector respond?
  • Is the gateway device responding in real time when a burglary is detected?

This project can be evaluated according to the tasks I have completed as I listed them in what tasks need to be completed? section of this assignment.
