Assignment

Plan and sketch a potential final project.

The project

From the beginnings of the Fab Academy, mi intention was make a machine with a potential application at the industry. So, due to I have some experience on the metal-mechanics, I think about a machine to place plates with precision, on beam fabrication process. So, mi first step was taken a paper and make a sketch.

The idea is to have a surface, where the operator can leave the plates needed to the assembly process. Then a cartesian robot of 5 axis (I'm not sure about the number of axis, that can change) pick the plates, once at a time. The robot moves the plate to a programmed position, over a beam supported near the robot.

In order to explain better mi idea, I decided to make a 3D mockup because is more easy to me than draw. First at all, I made a table.

The next ones, was the robot and the beam to be assembly.

Finally, I placed a dummy to give some idea about the size of the machine. I found a good one at Grabcad (here), from the user Louth McMahon.

So, the 3d mockup looks like this.

Well. I have to say this is only a concept at this moment. the pieces, dimensions and shapes should change along the process of the design. By the way, that process need to be planned, so that's next.

The planification

The Fab academy has 20 weeks, but we are at the second week at the time I am writing this, so I have 18 weeks to complete the entire project. That will my deadline.

So I decide to make a plan, using MS Project.

According that, my official start date is 01/28/2018 and the finish date is 05/24/18. Even including a wildcard week, looks a little hard. I need to do my best, thats clear.
