Invention, Intellectual Property & Income

Objectives

  • Develop a plan for dissemination of your final project.
  • Formulate future opportunities.
  • Imagined and outlined possibilities and described how to make them probabilities
  • Prepared a draft summary slide and video
  • Development of Project Plan

At this time(just few days for the Final Presentation), I am far behind on my Project developement. I have been playing with my final ATtiny 44 on driving the motors and trying a few different programs, together with finishing of these Week Assignment Documentation.

As you may have already seen from my Final Project Page, my project is making a Bluetooth controlled DC motor Car which might have an IR sensor in it.

So Far, What I have Done !

    1. I have designed and milled the board for my final project

    2. I have made a mobile application in MIT app inventor for driving the motors through bluetooth interfacing.

    3. I have designed the base of my car(hoping I wont change it in coming days, I am so unpredictable to myself), then two wheels, and the motor holder that will be attached to base to hold the motors.

    4. I have 3d printed two wheels i designed but it might probably useless, as i am looking for much smaller and thicker ones.

    5. I have 3d printed a motor holder, (as a test print ) for one of the DC motor.

    6. I have laser cut the base with cardboard paper for testing.

    What are my Plans ?

I believe that I am still far behind 90% on my Mechanical Design part, I have to build a Chassis for my car for the starters. And also the wheels should be 3d printed and other mechanical parts

For the Electronics part, I have to make the motors work with interfacing part, and also write the program to control motors and IR sensor simultaneously.

So my Plan is listed as below

    1. First I will finish all the Designing parts left to do,

    2. Then I will 3D print and Laser Cut all those designed parts

That might include the Base of the Car, covering for the electronics stuff, top and side covers of car, four wheels, two motor holders. 3. So after making a physical assembly of these parts, I will look at the programming side

Oh God I am so Late !

I am equally petrified and excited,
but I am confident that I will complete this

    4. I am planning to make the Car with both bluetooth control to drive with its own control to move away from obstacles using IR sensor

    5. I have left posters and other stuff for the last

    Licensing

After all these days and weeks learning new things and attaining skills that are so cool, and especially going to electronics and programming subjects which I never thought I could ever be able to.

I am grateful to each and all behind this venture, specially to Neil Gershenfeld for his lectures and ideas.

After each week I started recognising how small is my knowledge and our oppurtunity to learn is vast.
Eventhough i am not be the brightest student that learned in the academy, the skills I learned here would be my strongest abilities in ythe coming days

    Intellectual Property

As its definition Intellectual Property is the intangible property that is the result of creativity, such as patents, copyrights, etc.

    Patents

A patent is a form of right granted by the government to an inventor, giving the owner the right to exclude others from making, using, selling, offering to sell, and importing an invention for a limited period of time, in exchange for the public disclosure of the invention.

    Copyright

A copyright gives the creator of an original work exclusive rights to it, usually for a limited time.

    Trademark

A trademark is a recognizable sign, design or expression which distinguishes products or services of a particular trader from the similar products or services of other traders.

    Open Source License

    As in Wikipedia
An open-source license is a type of license for computer software and other products that allows the source code, blueprint or design to be used, modified and/or shared under defined terms and conditions. This allows end users and commercial companies to review and modify the source code, blueprint or design for their own customization, curiosity or troubleshooting needs. Open-source licensed software is mostly available free of charge, though this does not necessarily have to be the case. Licenses which only permit non-commercial redistribution or modification of the source code for personal use only are generally not considered as open-source licenses. However, open-source licenses may have some restrictions, particularly regarding the expression of respect to the origin of software, such as a requirement to preserve the name of the authors and a copyright statement within the code, or a requirement to redistribute the licensed software only under the same license.

There are a few open source license givers like GNU General Public License , MIT License , Creative Commons etc.

    click GNU General Public License

    click MIT License

    click Creative Commons

    Creative Commons License

I took the Creative Commons License, See below the different terms and attributes of CC

Coming to license part I decided to take up an open source, free to share but share alike and non- commercial license for my work here

Under this license, You are free to:

Share - copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format
Adapt - remix, transform, and build upon the material for any purpose, even commercially.

The licensor cannot revoke these freedoms as long as you follow the license terms.

    Under the following terms:

Attribution - You must give appropriate credit, provide a link to the license, and indicate if changes were made.
You may do so in any reasonable manner, but not in any way that suggests the licensor endorses you or your use.
No additional restrictions - You may not apply legal terms or technological measures that legally restrict others from doing anything the license permits.

My works are free to share with some credits for me.

And mainly I cannot be held responsible for any kind of harm caused by another party who used my work.

These are my only concerns, and i am open to adaptation, share and

    Getting the License in steps

First Go to Share Your Work Tab in the Creative Commons page

Choosing my License , click get started

We go to this page were we could choose the License Features
    1. Allow adaptations of your work to be shared? I choose the option " Yes, as long as others share alike " , ie; you must distribute your contributions under the same license as the original.

    2. Allow commercial uses of your work? I choose option "No" ie; You may not use the material for commercial purposes.

This is the License page and we should copy the code to our Work/product page for the visitors to know
