Week 19:
Invention, Intellectual Property and Business Models

Mission objectives:

Summarise two kinds of licences and explain why you chose one.

Imagine and outline possibilities and describe how to make them probabilities.

In first weeks of fab academy and before we chose the template for our websites our instructor spoke about the license of copyrights as It is really important to acknowledge others work and helps you to identify your work among others, as the word has been open source globe, the point is that most ppl don't want to create the thing from scratch that's why they take others to work thus we have to use or it is important to have a license for the work you take. and because of that I picked the Creative Common License specifically

Creative Commons License
This work is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License.

NonCommercial (nc).

You are free to:

Share — copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format

Adapt— remix, transform, and build upon the material

Im happy to share people copy, distribute, display and modify my work, as long as they share and distribute any edited work on the same terms.

This license let others:
Share — copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format.
Adapt — remix, transform, and build upon the material.

Limitations when you use this kind of license are:
Attribution — Users must give appropriate credit, provide a link to the license, and indicate if changes were made.
NonCommercial — Users may not use the material for commercial purposes.
ShareAlike — If anyone remixes, transforms, or builds upon the material, he/she must distribute their contributions under the same license as the original.

Why I chose this license?

Adding to aforementioned point, that also this is an Open Source Hardware (OSHW) that has been released to the public in such a way that anyone can make, modify, distribute, and use.

Future scope of my final project development

Regarding working system of the table:
The coffee table can include a lot of smart function which I could not have enough time to add to it. I think adding a sound system by Bluetooth or USB to the coffee table will definitely add a great sense of enjoyment especially for music lovers. As well as, maybe having a temperature sensor to keep track or check the heat of the coffee by giving a sound/ voice notice if the coffee is getting cold or reach a certain level of a temperature. Also, I will change the power source which will be a chargeable battery so I can use the table wherever I want not depending on electricity blog.

Regarding the design "How coffee table looks like"
This is the poster I made for my final table including a summary about the functions of the table.

I would for sure love to make and create new shapes of coffee tables, as I'm more into the modern designs of tables, therefore, I will keep searching and learning new techniques about the making using deferent kind of materials like wood, acrylic, etc...
Working with wood is a fun thing for me. I would like to work with interior designers by participating in art exhibitions inside and outside the country.

I attended the INDEXDubai 2018 Art Faire to meet the artists and look for opportunities and ways to develop my table "final project". Where I met the Emirati interior designer Abdulla Alsheikh , who is also interested in designing tables, chairs and other wood things and we agreed to do a project togather as he also visited our UAE fabLab to see the workshops that we have.

Acknowledgement

I gratefully acknowledge the Foundation of Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Distinguished Academic Performance , Fab Lab UAE Fab Lab UAE, Dubai, 2018, for providing a Digital Manufacturing Diploma Scholarship and creating for us an innovation supporting environmentunder to create, innovate and learn novel ways of manufacturing skills.

Future plans
1. Present five workshops from what I've learnt in Fab Academy.
2. Make a project.
3. I will improve the functions in the table as I only used in the final project light sensors and LED. My future improvement for the table I want to add a temperature sensor to measure the heat of the drink and I would also like to change the size and shape of the table.

My thanks also go to the support I received from our instructor in the lab Wendy Neale , Engineer Hashim Al Sakkaf mostly in electronics weeks, classmates and colleagues in fablab UAE all of them for being such a great team by collaborating and sharing various skills with each other.

Thank You.
