Computer controlled machining

In our Fablab, we work with a Heinz S-1000 T.

Here is the website presenting the machine.

Main technical features

Cutting board 1000 x 600 mm
Z axis: 110 mm

The software that drives the machine is Win-PC

.
What we decided to do for this week is to test two settings parameters:
advance and rotation speed on three different materials:
birch multiplex, OSB and polyurethane with a common milling cutter: flat end mill 6 mm 2 end

The parameters are as follows:

Speed: 25000, 22500, 20000, 16000, 13000, 10000, 7500, 5000 rpm
Feed rate: 24, 21, 18, 15, 12 mm / sec

The most convincing results are:

Multiplex:

The best results are those obtained at 22500 rpm and 25000 rpm
with an advance of 12 mmm / sec.

The cut part is smooth. With the other parameters, there are some parts of material that are less well cut.

OSB The parameters are as follows:

Speed: 25000, 22500, 20000, 16000, 13000, 10000, 7500, 5000 rpm
Feed rate: 24, 21, 18, 15, 12 mm / sec

No great difference between the different test in this material.
