How to document

If you don't document, you did nothing.

Everyday we learn, we experient and we create, but will you remember everything? The knowledge that we built can be use also for other people that are facing the same problems. This web site will help me document my experiences and so other people can start from there and go faster and further.

Creating a web site from Scratch

Fab Academy suggest to use GitLab and than host the site on their domain. So first, I look on different Fab Academy students website and I was rapidely lost in all that git environnement and strange vocabulary. So here my comprehension of git's mystery.

Like you can see, there is 3 main environnement.

  1. Your local computer
  2. Internet
  3. GIT (the mediator)
-On your local computer you can code your website with a sofware like Sublime Texte.
-GitLab is like a cloud or a google drive. It save on internet your website code.
-Finaly, GIT is your channel of communication between your local computer and Internet. Also, because he's nice, GIT will keep track of all the different version you save. If you need it, you can go back in your archive and take a old version of what you did.

Daily basis you will:

  1. Git Pull (Ask the mediator to take your lates version of code on GitLab)
  2. Git Status ( Tell me the diffence between this lates version on Git Lab and my latest version on my local computer)
  3. Git Add (Combine both version and make it ready to give to GIT the mediator)
  4. Git Commit (Giving this new version of your work to GIT the mediator)
  5. Git Push (Ok GIT the mediator, you can push it on GitLab!)

Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven't found it yet, keep looking. Don't settle. As with all matters of the heart, you'll know when you find it.
