Week 20 Project development

This week we had to complete our final project and track our progress.

What tasks have been completed and what tasks remain? What has worked and what hasnt? What questions need to be resolved? What will happen when? What have you learned?

Idea

The idea of this project was to assemble a lamp made out of wood. Build the electronics around it and program them.

What tasks have been completed?

  • The frame of the of the Wooden lamp has been lasercut
  • Electronics have been designed, milled

What tasks remain?

The board needs to be programmed. Because I could not get RGB Led lights, I had to use a Neopixel ring. Find out how to program this and how to setup a bluetooth apk.

What has worked

The second board based on Neil’s design, the only thing added was the phototransistor.

What hasnt?

The first board I milled couldn’t be programmed

What questions need to be resolved?

  • Initially the lamp would have a wireless charger, but I didn’t get the modules for that. So plan B is to make a bluetooth apk and control the lamp via this app.

What will happen when?

  • After the Fabacademy I want to try to make a wireless charger module as extra feature for the lamp.

What have you learned?

  • I have learned to improvise when components are not available
  • You can do anything when you set your mind to it. Allthough these were hectic 5 months, I think it was a fun experience.
