3. Computer Aided design

Assignments

For this week we had to model (raster, vector, 2D, 3D, render, animate, simulate, …) a possible final project, and post it on our class page.

Introduction

As a mechatronics engineer, and as a FabManager, I already use ( or have already tested ) a lot of software presented during this session. So I decided a few things for this week :

  • Try some software I never used an which can be interesting for my final project such as Krita and Image Magic
  • Try to use software I tested a long time ago and which has been improved a can be interesting for my final project, such as Solidworks, OnShape and FreeCAD
  • Present some work I’ve already done with some software I use quite a lot, such as Inkscape, Gimp, Scribus and Fusion360

The last part I mainly dedicated to the presentation of my work to inspired other people for their FabAcademy project.

So, as I would like to test/present a lot of software, I decided to put theme on dedicated pages. Links are on the nav bar on the right.

Video …

Last year, on my Youtube Channel, I made a video about 3D software and I tested 3 software : FreeCAD, Fusion360 and Onshape. The idea of this video was to test 3 kind of mecanical 3D software that you can use for free and use the same examples to test them.

The video is in french and automatic subtitles are not quite good, but if you want to watch it, feel free 😄
