The aim of the Application and Implication week assignment was Propose a final project masterpiece that integrates the range of units covered,

What will it do?

Basically I am from rural area.since last 23 year I have seen in rural areas that there is a short water storage due to lack of rain.and people was not used water properly.In village Water is supplied through dams. Every house is left out of the tap. People want to fill the water as much as they want to waste the rest of the water and abuse the water. It is, of course, that the dam water level is decreasing and there is no water for later use. Before that happen, people should understand how much water is left in the reservoir and how long it will be used. For this I am going to make this device. From this project, I will show the dam water level on a large display in the center of the village. This will help people to understand how much water is left in the dam and how many days we will get water.

Who's done what beforehand?

  • People have made these types of sensor before as a DIY project and as a Product too.and also made big screen display for showing result.
  • All of those water level sensor and LED Matrix Display were pretty expensive whether homemade or a final product. I wanted to try my hand on the project and see if I could make it uses low cost material which could be feasible for the Indian market.

What will you design?

Mechanical Design - I have already design the component of my project.The display box has been designed and plasma cutting.

Electronic Design - I was design the circuit board of water level and Microcontroller Board .water level sensing water level.and send inputs to microcontoller board.I add LED Matrix Display in my controller board.LED matrix Display showing water level in dam

Where will it come from?

Except for pipes(waterproofing for sensors under dam),Metal sheet,these are coming from pabal either Pune.I will used most of components from Fab Lab Inventory like electronics components for controller board. If some components are not available in Fab Inventory.those components are coming from Local electronic market(Pune).Also I Order it.almost eithers are made in fablab.

My project cost is around Rs.7391

What parts and systems will be made?

The case and PCB contain all my electronics parts

What processes will be used?

I'll use these processes:

  • 2D and 3D design - Solidworks for design big display box. In corel made my project logo.
  • Computer controlled cutting - On laser cutter 3mm acrylic for making box (Transmitter side)
  • 3D printing - supported stand for water level sensor.
  • Electronics Design & Production -schematic of project board design and Milling the project board.
  • Embedded Programming - Learn the Arduino and program the micro-controller
  • Input & Output Devices - For Input Making Water level sensor.I am also planning add a LCD which will show the required information.

What questions need to be answered?

  • 1.How these models are feasible?
  • 2.How it will benefits directly to the villagers?
  • 3.How to made in Low cost ?
  • 4.After this project what is the Impact of villegers ?

How will it be evaluated?

  • At this stage of the product , it should be evaluated on the basis of whether it is able to showing Water level on Big display.
  • I made sensor and microcontroller board myself.
