  • What does it do?

  • It does create awareness about water available in Dam.
  • Live display of water stock available in dam for use.
  • Encourage people to use water carefully.
  • Who's done what beforehand?

    All of those water level sensor and LED Matrix Display were pretty expensive whether homemade or a final product. I wanted to try my hand on the project and see if I could make it uses low cost material which could be feasible for the Indian market.

    What did you design?

    In Mechanical Design - I designed transmitter and receiver box.For design I used solidworks. and this box cutting in laser on white Acraylic sheet.

    In Electronic Design. - For transmitter side,I have made water level sensor board and Atmega microcontroller board. for receiver side I have Made DIY DMD Connector.

  • Where did they come from?

    Purchasing pipes(waterproofing for sensors under dam) in Pabal , Acraylic sheet,these are coming from Pune.I will used most of components from Fab Lab Inventory like electronics components for controller board. If some components are not available in Fab Inventory.those components are coming from Local electronic market(Pune).Also I Order it.almost eithers are made in fablab.

    Total cost of my project is RS. 7391/-

    What parts and systems were made?

    My projcet is Dam water level which consists level sensor, transmitter and receiver. I have designed sensor and microcontroller board and also programmed them. I have used PVC pipes for fixing the level sensors. Also I have made acrylic casing for Transmitter and reciever by using laser cutter. By using general purpose pcb, I have made DIY-dmd connector for the display.

    What processes were used?

    I have made two system transmitter and receiver side

  • 2D and 3D design - I have made transmitter and receiver box.In corel made my project logo.
  • Electronics Design and Production -schematic of project board design and Milling the project board.
  • Input and Output Devices - For Input Making Water level sensor and Atmega Microcontroller board.I have made DIY DMD connector for LED Matrix.
  • What questions were answered?

  • How to made in Low cost ?
  • After this project what is the Impact of villegers ?
  • How it will benefits directly to the villagers?
  • How was it evaluated?

  • Live display of water stock available in dam for use.
  • Encourage people to use water carefully.
  • At this stage of the product , it should be evaluated on the basis of whether it is able to showing Water level on Big display.
  • What are the Implications?

    This project will shows quantity of water in the dam on a large display at the center of the village. This will help people to understand how much water is left in the dam and how many days we can get the water. This will help to reduce the wastage of water.

    Working Status : What is working?

  • The lasercut structure is fitting.
  • The electronics fits perfectly in the 3D printed box.

  • What is not working?
  • I have problem with interfacing GSM module to LED Matrix.
  • It work on Mobile SMS But not for working Transmitter site.We work on them.

  • 2. Need to work on programming of the project.
  • Need to do electronics packaging.
  • Need to do proper Design.
  • Need to Understand Communication of LED Matrix from GSM Module.
  • What I learned?

  • 1. I came to know about various 2D and 3D designing software.
  • 2. Electronics and programming was very new for me.
  • 3. I came to know about various machines like laser cutter, 3D printer,etc.
  • 4. I came to know about hand saw operation and its maintenance etc.
  • Summary About Project

    Basically, I belong from a rural area. I have seen in the rural area that there is limited water storage due to lack of rain since last 23 years.do not have sufficient water still people do not use properly.so, I made device that has enough water reserves in the village dam and how much longer it can be used. and it shows on a 7 segment display. this display indicates the storage of water in the dam. People will see this display they will be aware that there is only enough water storage in our dam and we have to use water properly.

    Working-I have made two module one is transmitter side and second is Receiver side.In transmitter side I used water level sensor and set it on different measurement.Water have good conductive electricity.when they touch water they shot and give SMS.and sensding to receiver side.

    In Receiver side It receive msg from transmitter side and display on Screen.For Communication I used GSM Module.

    Time management

    According to the gnatt chart I follow all task and tried hard and soul to complete my final project



    As a time management, I generally try to work advance from the deadline and I take into target to complete my project May Ending.I tried to completed mostly part from my assignment.For Installation We are Waiting for Mansoon
