Final Project: Fab Evapo-chillax

What will it Do??

It is a cool storage box that will help vendors to keep their vegetables fresh not only during dry seasons. Cool air passes through the honeycomb evaporative cooling pad reduces temperature of the storage chamber to 15-18 degree Celsius and increasing relative humidity to 60-75 per cent. This increases the storage life of fresh fruits and vegetables to up to four-five days.

Who's done what beforehand?

There are many people who works on evaporative cooling principle.
The IARI (Indian Agricultural Research Institute) made an vegetable vendor cart which is solar powered. The price of the vending cart has been fixed at Rs 30,000.

What will you design?

In fab academy I want to make prototype or small cabinet which will use for data collection and from this data we can improve the design.

What materials and components will be used?

For my project I used plastic tray(25liters), honeycomb evaporative cooling pads, water pump, Temperature sensor(LM35), Attiny44,etc.

Where will come from? How much will they cost?

I will used most of components from Fab Lab Inventory like electronics components for controller board. I have purchased water pump, tray and evaporative pads from market.
COSTING:
1. water pump - 70/-
2. Plastic tray- 300/-
3. Acrylic sheet- 600/-
4. DC fan(40*40mm)- 400/-
5. Honeycomb evaporative cooling pads- 250/-(30*50cm)
6. DC power adapter- 70/-

How much will they cost?

Total system cost around 1600/-.

What parts and systems will be made?

I will make all board(PCB's) and temperature sensor.
Here I made project plan to do all things on time.


What processes will be used?

1. 3D designing (solidworks)
2. Laser cutting - 3mm acrylic for making box
3. 3D printing - Hinge and other stuff
4. Electronics Design - schematic of project board design
5. Electronics Production - Milling the project board
6. Input Devices - Making Temperature Sensor
7. Embedded Programming- Learn the Arduino and program the micro-controller

What questions need to be answered?

Data collection is important in this project.
1. How many days vegetable looking fresh.
2. How much weight loss of vegetable.

How will it be evaluated?

Evaluation depend upon the experimental setup and collection of data with running setup. I want to solve street vendor problem, but in low-cost. After collecting the data I will improve the design.
