Work

I manage a few of the computer facilities in the school of ABE. I also maintain the IT server as require by the course needs, lab PCs and iMacs, notebooks, etc, as well as providing IT support to lecturers and students of the school of ABE. I am also one of the Safety Officers in the school of ABE, and part of my job as Safety Officer is to conduct inspection of the facilities, including the Fab Lab.

Part of my job duties include supporting our school Fab Lab at Workshop 4, mainly assisting students in their 3D Printing and Laser Cutting needs in our school Fab Lab.

Academic Education

I graduated with a Bachelor of Applied Science (Construction Management and Economics), from Curtin University of Technology, Australia. My other academic qualifications include : WSQ Specialist Diploma in Workplace Safety and Health, Advanced Diploma in Information Technology, Advanced Certificate in Training and Assessment. Last year, I had attended 3D Printing and Model Making course as well as other in-house Fab workshops.

Fabrication exprience

As a building graduate, I am familiar with 2D drawing and drafting software (like AutoCAD) as well as 3D Drfting software (like Autodesk Revit). I am familiar with operating the 3D Printers and laser cutter machine in our school Fab Lab.

However, I am new to electronic and digital fabrication.

Fab Lab Singapore Polytechnic

Fab Lab Singapore Polytechnic is centrally located at T11C and T14 within Singapore Polytechnic campus. As Singapore Polytechnic is an institute of higher learning, Fab Lab Singapore Poltechnic houses a board range of euipment for digital fabrication, like 3D Printer, laser cutter, CNC milling machine, soldering station, among other equipment and tools.

Fab Lab Singapore Polytechnic has a number of satellite Fab Labs located throughout the campus like in T12. I am supporting the Fab Lab at Workshop 4 which is managed by the School of ABE and has a few 3D Printers, a 90-watt laser cutter and small CNC milling machine.

I am mentored by instructors, Mr Steven Chew and Mr Rodney Dorville, from Fab Lab Singapore Polytechnic.

Aspiration

I hope to learn as much as I can about Digital Fabrication during this six-month FAB Academy Diploma Course and apply what I have learnt to help the students in my school Fab Lab (Fab Lab at Workshop 4).

In future, I hope to conduct some basic 3D printing, laser cutting and Fab Lab classes for the students in the School of ABE. I also hope to offer my assistance to the final year students of the Diploma in Civil Enginnering Course if they need any help with building their own electronics.
